Casting News of the Day: Lionsgate has officially announced that Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have been cast as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne, respectively, in Gary Ross’s highly anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ successful sci-fi novel series The Hunger Games.

The pair join Winter’s Bone’s Jennifer Lawrence who was recently cast as protagonist Katniss Everdeen.

A release date has been tentatively set for March 23, 2012.

I think it’d be more appropriate if they switched characters. I don’t know. Josh Hutcherson, whom I’ve had a crush on for the longest time, looks more like Gale while Liam Hemsworth looks like Peeta. But seriously? Jennifer Lawrence? I don’t believe she’d be a good Katniss. Sorry, guise.
